Story Line of My ------

The story line my groups has decided to do in our ---- contains the elements of horror, comedy and fantasy. Four/Five Disney Princesses find out that their prince, has married all of them, however under a different name and face. They are so mad they try to kill the prince. He runs away and they all follow. Arial, uses crabs, her sharp tail to hurt people and uses a triton to spear people. Snow White uses her ability to control animals/people to eat her poison apples, which are actually bombs. She gives them to her victim, then runs. The person goes to take a bite, however hears a ticking. The bomb is about to explode. They drop it and run. It explodes. Sleeping Beauty/Aurara, falls asleep in the pathway of people to trip them over. Cinderella, has smashed one of her shoes to use it as a glass weapon. Belle uses her ribbon to choke and books to throw at people. A memorable scene would be there is a lot of chaos going on in the short movie, lots of sound effects, dramatic music and princesses screaming. Then everything goes silent, side view shown of prince running away sprinting at full speed, 2 minutes after princesses running not far behind, then arial flopping 5 minutes after. This will add highly to the comedic section of this film.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Analysis

1 - Mise en Scene (Tiffany, Earnie, Hilda, Sevanna)
2 - Cinematography (Abbie, Zoe)
3 - Editing (Stephanie, Abbey, Camille)
4 - Sound (Maddy, Me)

Cinematography is a large component in the film, “Internal Sunshine”, as it displays the speed, camera movement and angle position contained within the movie.  The speed varies throughout the whole film to display different emotions that accompany the different occasions held in the clip. When the speed increases, such as when Joel is travelling through his memories, the mood intensifies to make the audience feel tension and suspense. This makes the whole message of the film seem clearer and more effective. Contrasting this, the mood decreases when a romantic scene between Joel and Clementine is apparent. This makes the mood seem slow and relaxed, which conveys that the time with Clementine has been the best memories of Joel’s life. The speed overall contributes widely to the mood and tension displayed throughout the movie.
The camera position also changes within the film to show emotions and happenings in the movie. In one point in the movie the position of the camera was a headshot of Joel, where he is in the doctor office during the erasing of his memory. The camera pans around to the different characters with a lighting to show that it were surreal. Altogether, both the speed and camera position displayed throughout the movie play a important part in conveying the messages to the audiences.

The sound within Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind consists of vocals that appear realistic and surreal and sound effects that emphasize the deformation of the film. Before Joel begins to destroy his memories, the dialogue appears perfect, clear and normal. However as he is under the procedure, it begins to warp and become surreal. Some words are slowed down, made so they are repeated and their tone changed. By doing this it creates the alternate universe where he searches for Clarantine and tries to escape from his memory being whipped. This is really affected in making the movie appear strange. The sound effects used in the movie consist of ones that built suspense and excaudate certain parts of the movies, for example the times when he is lost within his memories. It adds effect for the audience; they are drawn further into the movie and immersed in what will come next.

Moulin Rouge - Practice Analysis

The scene begins as a collage of images and photos. A sung narration is provided by a man on the left side of the screen. He sings about all the pain and hardship that the main character has been threw. The lady he once love is dead and he is lost. Showing this depression in a fade out, it provides the audience with the idea that these events slowly came into his life and faded away. Then the scene gently changes, an establishing, long shot is shown of the city of Paris, the viewers are shown where the action of a majority of the movie will take place. With this part of this scene in black and white, it gives the impression that this city is dark, gloomy and has bad things happening in it. A dolly shot is used, zooming into the city and closing up on some of the characters in the film. By doing this it gives audience a visual understanding of what the people are like in this town. Being dark and gloomy, they are not the first person you would approach in the street to ask for directions. Flying almost along the streets and into a window of a two story home, a man sits alone, curled up beside a bed. He appears depressed and almost mentally destroyed. His body position shows this as he huddles over his heart as if trying to protect it. Moving to his type writer, he begins to type, the music's lyrics match the words being written. Close ups every so often are used every so often of his face to express his emotions to the audience. By glancing outside he provides the belief that he is searching for something, but it keeps escaping from him.

Types Camera Shots

ECU - Extreme Closeup

ECU - Extreme Closeup
The extreme close up is used to reveal very small details in the scene. It might be used to reveal horror in a subject (extreme close up of the subject's mouth as she/he screams). It might also be used in a mystery to show some detail that the detective picks up on or to show some small clue.

CU - Close Up

CU - Close Up
The close up shot is used to reveal detail. If you are shooting just the head and shoulders of a subject this is a close up.

Head and Shoulders

Head and Shoulders
The head and shoulders shot is used in news broadcasts. If you think about the television news you will realize that this shot reveals enough detail to see the subject's lips move and the expression on her/his face.

Bust Shot

Bust Shot
This shot shows your subject from above the knees to above the head. It is often used when the subject of the shot is doing something that requires the audience to see some detail.

MS - Medium Shot

MS - Medium Shot
The medium shot is from just below the waist to above the head. There is more headroom than in the bust shot. This show is used if the person is animated with their hand movements, etc.

MLS - Medium Long Shot

MLS - Medium Long Shot
Remember in this shot to not cut ther person off at the knees. With this shot, you can still see expression on the persons face, while getting more information from what is going on around the person.

LS - Long Shot

LS - Long Shot
This shot is useful for someone that is walking or moving

ELS - Extra Long Shot
ELS - Extra Long Shot
Also known as the Establish shot, this gives the viewer some perspective as to where the subject is. This is very important if the subject is moving to new locations or times. It lets the viewer know where the video is taking place.

2 Shot
2 Shot
Two-shots are composed when two people are in the scene and their interaction is important. A two-shot is a good way to introduce a conversation. From the introduction you might cut to an over the shoulder shot of one person talking or a close-up of the other person reacting to what is being said.

OS - Over Shoulder

OS - Over Shoulder
The over the shoulder shot reveals one subject as seen from over the shoulder of another subject. It simulates a view of the subject as seen from the second person's eyes. This shot is often used in conversations between two people where the dirtector wants to focus on the person speaking. Usually these shots are head shots (close ups of the speaker).

Construction of my Essay

Genre – comedy/ romance
-       Romance brewing between the two main characters
-       The way she ran in the pink dress
-       When she got water thrown at her face

Characters (Characters and Theme)

Through their body language, actions and use of dialogue, the actors in this film have worked well at achieving their characters personalities. Sandra Bullock’s Lucy Kelson shows at first to be an impatient lawyer, however with her own sense of humor, this smart businesswomen blossoms into a caring and well-mannered lady. Her impatience is shown threw her actions such as pencil tapping, quick paced movements when her client is trying to get her to decide what to pick out in the clothing store, and again when she runs into his wardrobe and motions with her hands at the same time as her dialogue “What? What?” George Wade, played by Hugh Grant, demonstrates the characteristics of a young boy. By barely being able to make simple decisions on his own, always looking sad or worried when he says something, as if he is nervous for how people will react and his seating position when in the lawyer’s office, he demonstrates his unique personality. Between the two characters, you can see a small attraction to each other, she pushes him away but he clings to her with every opportunity he gets. Even by making her unemployable so she will have to work for him. There are other genres in this scene other than romance. A majority of it contains the genre of comedy. With the way he is pathetically incapable of anything and her being bossy and controlling, the two characters make a hilarious couple.
-Also by the way she ran weirdly in the pink dress

Cuts and shots (cinematography and editing)

With the inclusion of jump and fade cuts, and certain types of shots in this scene, the storyline flows exceptionally well. From the city to the office and office to the city, jump cuts are shown to express dialogue and change of scenery. Inside the lawyer’s office, mid shots of their body’s were used to show their emotions and actions as they talk about the divorce. After being in the lawyer’s office, the characters then cut straight into the city. Using an establishing shot, the director is able to show the pathway traffic flow and bring across the message of location. Coming out from behind a Kebab stand, the storyline progresses, with more close up shots used to show the audience the close conversation between the main characters, which will provide them with the understanding of this developing relationship. When George paid for his kebab, he handed over an amount that was highly unusual, which would not have been picked up if the director had not over excaudate the exchange. This was achieved by using a close up shot of the money as it was in the Kebab mans hand. Further into the scene, Lucy gives a homeless man a little bit of change, by the end she is arguing with him and has to hurry away with George. To connect the audience with the characters more intensely a panning shot was used to make the viewers travel along as if being a third party walking along side in the scene.

Notes: Need to refer every thing back to how it is a comedy genre. talk about comedic aspects
