Elements of A Horror Movie

Movies that have the genre of "horror" usually contain the same types of material, in which includes:

- Suspenseful / Haunting Music - For example the movie "The Strangers" has a song that echoes in your head long after you have finished watching the film. (See the strangers trailer) It keeps the terror you felt during the time you first listened to it, fresh in your head.

- Main 'Fierce' Character - The main character that strikes fear in everyone is generally, large, savage and intelligent.

- Scared Characters - These characters usually are running away and fearing the main character, making the fierce character seem scarier.

- Supernatural Themes - With having supernatural animals, they can be fiercer, quicker and more intimidating than a regular animal. Some examples of these supernatural animals include; Vampires, Werewolves, Evil Mermaids. One of the most popular supernatural themes include spirits, demonds and the devil.

- True stories - Having a horror story based upon an true story strikes more fear into the person making them believe that it is possible that what occurs in this movie can happen to them at any time.

- Over exaggerated Effects - In movies with murder in them, there is a lot more blood than there would be if a true murder took place. The creators of horror movies make the scenes way more grousome to scare its viewers as much as possible.
